Each year, CIVHC’s public reporting team seeks new ways to turn the power of the Colorado All Payer Claims Database (CO APCD) into actionable insights. With nearly 20 public releases in the last fiscal year (July 2025 – June 2026), including new and updated public analyses and interactive tools, we’re bringing transparency to the health care marketplace. These public releases of data are used widely, in Colorado and nationwide, to support more informed health care decisions that have lasting benefits to communities.
New Reports in Fiscal Year 2026
Colorado Dental Health Analysis – In partnership with the Colorado Dental Association, CIVHC released the first report leveraging dental claims data from the CO APCD. Drawing on three years (2022 – 2024) of commercial claims data, the Dental Health Analysis provides a comprehensive look at dental service use, spending trends, and demographic disparities statewide.

Updated Reports in 2025 – 2026
Alternative Payment Models – Alternative Payment Models (APMs) are mechanisms for health insurance payers to pay providers outside of the traditional fee for service payment model. APMs are nationally regarded as a way to improve health and lower health care costs by incentivizing providers to focus on health outcomes. In early 2026, CIVHC updated its report on APM model adoption across the state with data through 2024.
Chronic Conditions Analysis – This innovative analysis sheds light on 30 prevalent chronic diseases leveraging CO APCD claims data from 2017 – 2024. The analysis reveals how common these conditions are, as well as average annual cost of care and total spending for individuals living with at least one chronic illness. The update includes breakouts showing both the total cost of care for people with at least one chronic condition and the condition-specific costs associated with treating each illness.
CO APCD Insights Dashboard – Providing an interactive look into contents of the CO APCD itself, the CO APCD Insights Dashboard explores trends across health insurance payer, claim and coverage type, covered lives by county, utilization, and demographics. This update includes claims data through 2025 for most lines of business.
Community Dashboard – This powerful interactive report provides actionable insights into how cost, utilization of services, and access to care vary across Colorado counties. The most recent update includes county-level data through 2024, as well as updates to the recently added “rankings” tab, which shows all Colorado counties ranked by cost or utilization measure.
Medicare Reference Based Pricing – This report, updated to include data through 2024, illustrates what commercial health insurance companies pay hospitals for inpatient and outpatient services as a percent of Medicare FFS rates.
Prescription Drug Rebates – CIVHC’s Prescription Drug Rebates analysis provides insights into spending on prescription drugs in Colorado and the percentage of prescription drug costs that comes back to payers in the form of rebates. This iteration includes a list of the top 15 most rebated drugs in Colorado (by rebate amount and volume), and incorporates data from 2022 through 2024.
Provider Payment Tool – This first-of-its-kind tool shows how payments vary across the state. It includes codes for thousands of services and represents the first comprehensive analysis identifying how much Colorado doctors and other providers get paid. In January 2026, CIVHC updated the tool to include data through 2024.
Shop for Care – This valuable and popular tool empowers Colorado consumers to compare procedure costs for over 250 health care services at over 200 hospitals and facilities across the state. Our Shop for Care tool now has data current through 2024, and provides concurrent updates to the Spanish version of the tool.
Looking Ahead
We’re already hard at work preparing new releases for the coming year. Several existing analyses are being expanded with updates designed to improve usability, data quality, and accessibility—while also enabling more detailed breakouts to support deeper insights. At the same time, we continue to enhance demographic data collection and analytic capabilities, laying the groundwork for more robust, innovative analyses.
