Data Release Review Committee

Required by the CO APCD Rule in the Colorado Code of Regulations, the multi-stakeholder Data Release Review Committee (DRRC) evaluates non-public CO APCD data release requests and advises the administrator on whether release of the data is consistent with the statutory purpose of the APCD, will contribute to efforts to improve health care for Colorado residents and complies with the requirements of HIPAA, HITECH, anti-trust and other federal privacy laws.

DRRC members review all applications for limited and fully identifiable releases of non-public CO APCD data to ensure they are compliant not only with Colorado statutory requirements but all federal privacy and security laws. During monthly meetings they discuss the applications and interview the requestors, investigating each potential use of CO APCD data thoroughly prior to making recommendations regarding release. Given the nature of the information discussed, DRRC meetings are closed to the public.
