As our 2026 fiscal year (July 2025 – June 2026) comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to look back on another big year for CIVHC. We accomplished a lot in the last year. Here are just a few of our highlights:

  • We completed over 15 public data reports and releases, including our exciting new Dental Health Analysis in partnership with the Colorado Dental Association. This is a first-of-its-kind tool in the state to offer comprehensive insights into dental care use patterns, costs, and disparities.
  • We welcomed many new faces to CIVHC as we continued to build our team to better support our partners, strengthen access to CO APCD data, and explore new ways to ensure Colorado continues to be a leader in improving health care. Our team additions included several new leaders, including a new VP of Data Solutions, Director of Data Access, Director of Data Impact, and Director of Evaluation and Research.
  • We completed a data vendor transition to Onpoint Health Data, laying important groundwork for the next chapter of the CO APCD.

Sharing Knowledge Across Colorado (And Beyond)!

Our work again showed up in forums, events, and publications across the nation. In the last year:

  • We presented four posters at the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting, showcasing Colorado’s leadership in health data innovation to some of the brightest minds in health data research.
  • We presented our independent research on the perinatal experience of Coloradans with Autism and important insights from our work with partner organization the Denver Indian Center Inc. at the Public Health in the Rockies conference.
  • We attended the annual National Association of Health Data Organizations’ (NAHDO) annual meeting, where our Director of Data Operations and Development, Maggie Mueller, accepted the Rising Star Award.
  • Our researchers teamed up with our partners from Contexture to explore the impact of Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) on ER & inpatient use in Colorado, and our findings were published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine.

Supporting Partners in Action

The most important work we do is equip our partners with the data, insights, and resources they need to ask sharper questions, evaluate programs, and advance health care improvements across Colorado.

In FY26, we continued to support community-driven work by providing access to data and evaluation services through the Health Equity Fund. Through the fund, we both supported continuing partners like the Life Interfaith Team on Unemployment and Poverty (LIFT-UP), Sites and Insights, and the Colorado Food Cluster while also providing services for new Health Equity Fund partners including the Center for African American Health and the Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative.

Partners also continued to put CO APCD data into action by leveraging the claims data to answer questions, evaluate delivery of care, and identify opportunities to improve the quality and cost of care. In the last year, researchers published multiple articles showcasing the variety of ways CO APCD data is being used, including:

As we head into the next fiscal year, we are grateful for the data users, community leaders, policymakers, and everyday Coloradans who have partnered with and supported us in this last year. We look forward to another year of working together to turn data into action to improve health and lives of Coloradans across our state.
