Organizations across the nation break down barriers firmly entrenched in our health care system. With boundless passion and limited resources, they increase access to care, implement innovative ways to deliver high quality care at affordable prices, and, day in and day out, fight to keep Americans healthy.

During these chats, we will highlight one of these Change Agents and the exciting work they are doing to create a better health system for us all.

University of Texas Health Science Center

Researchers from Rice University, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health, and RAND Corporation used CO APCD data to understand how hospitals are paid by commercial health plans, the different types of billing contracts negotiated, their prevalence, and how the terms of these contracts vary between markets.

What did the researchers learn about contracts in the health care market? How did claims data allow them to analyze contracts?
