After nearly eight years with the organization, Ana English, President and CEO of Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC), has announced she is retiring by the end of the year. Ana joined CIVHC in 2014, and under her leadership the organization has grown considerably in supporting Change Agents by enhancing products and services, expanding public reporting and increasing overall revenue.

During Ana’s tenure with the organization, CIVHC worked to make the Colorado All Payer Claims Database (CO APCD) one of the best in the nation while innovating its utility and expanding support services to Change Agents in Colorado and across the country.

“It’s truly been a pleasure to lead an organization whose mission is to support the incredible work of Change Agents directly improving the lives of Coloradans,” stated English. “I couldn’t be more proud of what the CIVHC team has accomplished over the years, and the positive impact we’ve had in partnership with so many across the state and nation. I will be excited to watch from afar the value CIVHC will continue to provide over the upcoming years.”

Using CO APCD data, CIVHC produces analyses for a variety of stakeholders including state agencies, providers and health systems, employers and consumers. CIVHC supports a number of legislative initiatives aimed at making health care more affordable, such as legislation to protect consumers from surprise billing and investments in primary care. Additionally, publicly available data like CIVHC’s Shop for Care tool and Community Dashboard increase health care transparency for Coloradans, and non-public data makes research and other innovative projects possible where in other states this important information is inaccessible.

“Under Ana’s leadership, CIVHC and the CO APCD have become invaluable resources locally and nationally,” said Doug McCarthy, CIVHC Board Chair and President of Issues Research, Inc. “In my studies of states, I’ve come to recognize that an organization like CIVHC, which provides trusted, high-quality, comprehensive data from an APCD, is a public treasure. Other states look to Colorado to set the standard in developing APCD data and related services. We will miss Ana’s leadership and want to thank her for growing CIVHC into the capable organization it is today.”

Ana’s last day with CIVHC will be December 1st 2022, and the board is planning a national search for her replacement beginning early summer. More information on the job position and timeline for the CEO search will be available via email announcement in the upcoming weeks and at civhc.org.

Ana plans to relax and travel to see friends and family across the country and abroad upon retirement. Please join us in congratulating Ana on this incredible milestone by signing her e-card.
