The Innovation in Data Dissemination Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate outstanding excellence in effectively releasing innovative data that positively impacts health care. This year’s award specifically recognizes CIVHC’s Health Equity Analysis and is a testament to CIVHC’s ability to leverage complex data from the Colorado All Payer Claims Database (CO APCD) and other sources can support partners, individuals, and communities across the state and nation.

"Receiving this recognition from among  our national peers is truly an honor for CIVHC,” states Kristin Paulson, CIVHC CEO and President. “This award underscores our unwavering commitment to making health care data accessible to a broad  audiences, and highlights how we can use data to  support our partners working to improve health and health equity.”

The Health Equity Analysis is unique in that it marks the first time that CIVHC has released data showing the relationship between social factors, such as income, education, and race, and health care use and access using data from the American Community Survey in conjunction with the CO APCD. CIVHC developed the analysis in partnership with data warehouse manager, Human Services Research Institute (HSRI), and would like to thank them for their contributions.

In 2013, CIVHC received the NAHDO Innovation in Data Dissemination award for the Shop for Care tool designed to help consumers shop for health care services based on cost and quality. Colorado is one of only a few states in the nation that has a consumer shopping tool that helps people understand how prices for common services can vary significantly depending on the location.
