A Letter From CIVHC's New CEO: Ana English

I am excited to be a part of CIVHC and working again in Colorado! My first official day was August 4, 2014, and within a few days I was in awe of the number of health care improvement activities occurring in Colorado and all there is to learn. To get up to speed as quickly as possible, my calendar is already full of meetings with staff, key stakeholders and business leaders that play an essential role in the success of CIVHC. Of critical importance is hearing directly from you and understanding the important role you play in Colorado’s health care landscape and what support CIVHC might be able to provide you along your journey.

Let me first tell you a bit about my background. My Masters of Business Administration coupled with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Economics and Political Science prepared me well for what has been over 25 years of finance and business operations experience in the health care industry. After initially spending some time in the finance sector, my health care career began with health insurers Lincoln National and then Foundation Health Systems (QualMed merged with HealthNet then merged with Foundation Health Corp to form FHS, currently known as HealthNet). At FHS I held several leadership positions including Vice President of Analysis and Planning, Senior Vice President of Administration, and divisional Senior Vice President of Operations. I was also responsible for FHS’ operational implementation of electronic data interchange (EDI).

After FHS I worked with Electronic Network Systems, a health care services organization, as President and Chief Operating Officer, and then transitioned to senior vice president of EDI solutions for Ingenix (the health care technology subsidiary of UnitedHealth, now renamed Optum) through Ingenix' acquisition of Electronic Network Systems. During this period I developed extensive health care industry contacts and gained a clear understanding of e-Health’s potential positive impact on health care operations and the importance of strong health care data and analytics. In addition, I was one of the founders of the industry association, Cooperative Exchange, and during my tenure served as their board’s President and Vice President.

After leaving Ingenix I joined a small entrepreneurial health care billing review company as their Chief Operating Officer and quickly moved to the position of Co-President and Chief Operating Officer. During that time I was also an executive volunteer with the not-for-profit Colorado Springs Economic Development Corporation as their VP of Strategic Initiatives. Most recently, I spent nearly four years with the American Medical Associations’ (AMA) as the head of their for profit subsidiary, AMAGINE, and at the beginning of last year began leading AMA’s Key Accounts, Product Sales and Marketing for all of the AMA’s Business Products and Services.

I truly appreciate the warm welcome and support that I have received so far from staff, board members and other key stakeholders. My first 90 days will be spent meeting many of you, getting up to speed on Colorado initiatives, and evaluating CIVHC’s existing as well as future strategic activities. In addition, I’m working to ensure CIVHC has the appropriate operational and support infrastructure to execute on all of our focus areas and initiatives to the best level possible.

Please know that I will give it my all in concert with our great team at CIVHC and many of you to help make CIVHC as successful as possible in driving towards our overall mission of supporting better health, better care and lower costs for Coloradoans. Please do not hesitate to email me directly concerning any items that you wish to discuss. Below is my contact information.

Best regards and I hope to hear from you!
Ana
