The Pinnacol Assurance board of directors announced Phil Kalin as the organization's next CEO today. The announcement comes at the conclusion of a mandatory two-week public announcement naming Kalin as a final candidate. Kalin's last day in the office with CIVHC will be November 15th. His first full day as Pinnacol CEO begins December 2nd.
"It's been a wonderful journey leading CIVHC for the past four years," said Kalin. "I've truly enjoyed the work and the partnerships we've been able to develop across the state and look forward to continuing to improve the lives of Coloradans as the next Pinnacol CEO."
The CIVHC board has formed a committee to conduct a national CEO search. The search committee includes board members as well as community and government stakeholder representation.
"While we are certainly disappointed to see Phil leave CIVHC, we are excited for him to have this opportunity and grateful that, under his leadership, CIVHC has grown into a strong, innovative, thriving organization with a national presence," said CIVHC board chairperson, Barbara Ryan, Ph.D. "We thank Phil for his leadership, and thank the staff and stakeholders across the state for your continued involvement and commitment to the organization."
The CIVHC board has named Edie Sonn, VP of Strategic Initiatives, as Interim CEO for the organization. In her two years with CIVHC, Edie has demonstrated the leadership, knowledge, relationships and expertise necessary to effectively lead the organization during this interim period. Sonn and CIVHC staff will ensure that work continues with no loss of forward momentum.
"We appreciate the high level of commitment to CIVHC's mission that Edie and the staff bring to the organization," said Ryan. "Edie and the CIVHC team have remarkable knowledge and skills and the board is confident in their ability to continue to advance CIVHC's important work."
