CIVHC has been designated as one of 11 national organizations certified as a Qualified Entity through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Created through the Affordable Care Act, the Qualified Entity Program will allow Colorado to combine Medicare claims representing 650,000 additional Colorado lives with the over 2.5 million Medicaid and commercial payer lives currently in the Colorado All Payer Claims Database. The addition of Medicare claims will allow for more robust reporting and evaluation of utilization and provider performance across the state to improve quality, reduce costs, and provide consumers with information to help them make value-driven health care decisions.
The Colorado APCD anticipates receiving the first Medicare claims through the State Agency Data Request Program beginning this fall with analysis and public reporting available late 2014. More in-depth public performance reporting based on Medicare claims data through the Qualified Entity Program is anticipated in 2015.
