One day strategic planning session for the Payment Reform Advisory Group and the Delivery System Redesign Advisory Group
Strategy Session Agenda
As part of its planning process, the Payment Advisory Group identified a need for accelerating its learning about various payment models and a desire to get more tangible on specific measureable objectives for its work. It was suggested that a day-long retreat would be the most efficient way to move this process along. It was also suggested that having expertise with a national perspective would be very valuable. Through the support of Academy Health, we are fortunate to have retained the services of nationally known expert on health reform, Mr. Harold Miller.
In discussions with the Delivery System Redesign Advisory Group and Mr. Miller, the leadership team felt that having a joint working session with both groups would be very helpful. Harold has the experience of conducting very similar events for the states of WA, WI, NV, OH, and OR.
Objectives of the Meeting:
• Update on payment/delivery models
• Define specific 5 year metrics and objectives for the work of the two advisory groups (aligned with CIVHC’s overall Triple Aim goals)
• Develop strategies and roadmap that will achieve the goals
• Gain clarity of the specific roles of each group
Participants: Members of the Payment and Delivery System Advisory Groups, CIVHC Board members, and co-chairs of Data, Consumer and Business Advisory Groups.
Format: The first portion of the morning will be focused on a presentation/overview by Harold Miller. The middle portion of the day will be divided into 2-3 small groups working on specific recommendations for outcomes, strategies related to improving the quality of care delivery and bending the cost curve in primary care and acute inpatient settings, with specific attention paid to the different strategies to achieve these goals in the rural vs. urban setting. The wrap up will be reaching consensus as a group on the key metrics, objectives and key milestones for our work.
