Health Care Payment Reform

Focus Areas

Payment Reform

Redesigning health care delivery and changing the way we pay for health care services must progress hand in hand. Ultimately, people and the systems within which they work respond to incentives – so changing monetary incentives is the critical first step to changing the health care delivery system. The payment reform landscape continues to evolve across Colorado, and CIVHC has been actively working with key stakeholders to expand the prevalence of new payment models, focusing specifically on bundled payments.

Our services to support advancing payment innovation:

  • By providing data (through the Colorado All Payer Claims Database), to health plans and payers to support developing new payment models such as bundled payments, or episode-based payments.
  • By acting as a third-party convener, facilitator, and connector for health plans, systems and providers developing new payment models.
  • By keeping current on national and local innovation, CIVHC maintains an inventory of resources and initiatives advancing new payment models.
